Jason
Jason is the most well known of all the characters in my star cast,
with the exception of Heracles, who we meet later in the story. He's famous for his quest to
reclaim the golden fleece, a rite of passage to claim his father's throne. It's on this quest
that he meets his first wife, Medea, who aids him in escaping her father's kingdom with the
fleece and later bears him two children. When Jason sets her aside to take a new wife, Medea
kills her in a jealous rage, then murders their children and flees for parts unknown. The
Jason of my story is haunted by the memory and riddled with guilt over his own part in the
tragedy. He has been engaged in a second quest to find Medea and seek his revenge, but he
drives his crew relentlessly and has difficulty keeping his ship manned as a result. Jason
was schooled, along with many Greek heroes, by the wise centaur, Chiron, on Mt. Pelion. In my
story, Jason represents Aries by wearing the golden fleece as a cloak, its horns as a helmet
of sorts. It gives him the power of flight and is impervious to penetration. It can also shine
with a blinding brilliance, but only when Jason is in peril.
